Shopping in Khao Lak
You can quite easily find
almost anything you want in the Khao Lak
area - be it a good quality Shiraz, your
favorite cookies/biscuits, baby food or even
all the tourist doo-dads that we fill our
suitcases with for the flight home.
You best bet for real supermarket-type goods
is the Nang Thong Supermarket on the north
end of Khao Lak Town (Baan La On) at B-6 on
the
Nang Thong Map. From Pampers baby
nappies (diapers) to a fine wine to a good
paperback book in English (or even German) -
this is the place to go.
For your more mundane goods, a few bottles
of Chang, a couple hotdogs or any kind of
snack foods, 7-11 now has their markets in
Khao Lak Town, Bang Niang, Khuk Khak and
just about everywhere else.
Well stocked locally owned
convenience markets can be found almost
everywhere and are easy to find - though the
range of goods will be variable. The D
Supermart at B/C-9 on the Nang Thong Map has
a quite wide range of goods including a few
good quality cigars [important for some of
us . . .].
Shopping
for tourist trinkets is also easy - and if
that is on your list the town area of Baan
La On probably has the best overall
selection of local crafts, t-shirts, silk,
paintings and whatever else you think may
strike the fancy of the folks back home.
