On this page: Gerd and Noi’s Bungalow, Baan Khao Lak Resort, Khao Lak Resort, Khao Lak Paradise and Poseidon Bungalows – and a bit of the area. Gerd and Noi Bungalows – Beachfront Bungalow – Khao Lak
Above: Gerd and Noi’s – Nang Thong Beach – classic G&N if you knew the resort pre-tsunami – lots of vegetation and it hasn’t even matured yet!
The resort is completed – I don’t see why it would be any problem for well-supervised kids to be in the beachfront bungalows [above].
Below: Beach right in front of the bungalows in the photo above. Plenty of small restaurants up and down the beach. Most will belong to small resorts like G&N’s. Bang Niang Beach – Khao Lak
Baan Khao Lak is next – below is the partially drained pool.
Both restaurants were open and in operation when I was at the BKL. It appeared that the construction at both restaurants was finished and the final touches were being put on them. A question was asked if the superior rooms were also in two-story buildings as are the cottages – yes they are. Here is a photo of the grounds near the pool and the beach in front of the resort.

Khao Lak Resort: Lots of stairs up and down, probably easier to walk to town down the beach to Nang Thong Bay Resort or Baan Khao Lak and then up to Baan La On.
The beach in front of the Khao Lak Resort is just down the beach from the Baan Khao Lak – the photo above looks in that direction. Similar, a bit more rocky, but still some good swimming areas nearby.
Khao Lak Paradise: It IS a lovely paradise. Beautiful grounds – wonderful pool – great beach. A bit of a walk into town, but quite doable. Thai design and quite special. This is where I would stay, were it in my budget! I’ve been impressed every time I have visited this resort. Even photos can’t say it all.
Khao Lak Paradise Resort – Khao Lak
Little touches like this pot of flowers (left) are everywhere at the Khao Lak Paradise.
Poseidon Bungalows were a surprise – as last time I went there I couldn’t even get out of the car due to some rather unfriendly dogs.
This time they weren’t on the scene until I was down around the bungalows and they proved to be just fine.
Not sure what the difference was. Simple, basic bungalows, but very nice setting looking out over the sea. Not much of a real view for most of them though as the trees in front of them are quite heavy.
The view, that of it that you can see, is across a bay to the Tap Lamu golf course (really the Naval base golf course).
No A/C in the bungalows – so during the hot season might be a bit uncomfortable unless there is a good breeze. Overall, a nice place. I don’t know anything about their snorkeling trips – I tend to snorkel on my own . . . The location is quite out-of-the-way though. I almost couldn’t get there in my car as the road was partially rained out.
That’s all folks – I hope it helps!
